How We Work

Steel Plate Manufacturing Processes

Step 01

Raw Material Preparation

a. Iron Ore and Coal: The primary raw materials, iron ore, and coal are mined and prepared.
b. Coke Production: Coal is heated in the absence of air to produce coke, which is used in the blast furnace.

Step 02

Ironmaking

Blast Furnace: Iron ore, coke, and limestone are fed into the blast furnace. The heat and chemical reactions reduce the iron ore to molten iron (hot metal).

Step 03

Steel Making

a. Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) or Electric Arc Furnace (EAF): BOF: Hot metal from the blast furnace is mixed with scrap steel and oxygen is blown through the mixture to remove impurities. EAF: Scrap steel is melted using electric arcs, allowing for the recycling of steel. b. Secondary Refining: The molten steel is further refined to adjust its chemical composition and remove any remaining impurities. This process can include degassing, desulfurization, and alloying.

Step 04

Casting

a. Continuous Casting: The refined molten steel is poured into a continuous casting machine where it solidifies into semi-finished slabs, blooms, or billets. b. Slab/Bloom/Billet Formation: The solidified slabs, blooms, or billets are cut to the desired lengths.

Step 05

Rolling

a. Hot Rolling: The semi-finished products are reheated and passed through rolling mills to achieve the desired thickness and width. This process involves multiple stages, including roughing, finishing, and coiling. b. Cold Rolling (optional): For applications requiring higher precision and better surface finish, the hot-rolled steel may undergo further rolling at room temperature.

Finishing

a. Surface Treatment: Processes such as shot blasting, pickling, and coating are applied to enhance surface properties. b. Cutting and Shaping: The steel plates are cut and shaped to the desired dimensions and specifications using shearing, laser cutting, or plasma cutting.

Quality Control

a. Inspection: The steel plates undergo rigorous inspection and testing, including dimensional checks, mechanical testing, and non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure they meet quality standards. b. Certification: Plates that pass inspection are certified according to industry standards (e.g., ASTM, API) and customer requirements.

Packaging Delivery

a. Packaging: The plates are packaged securely to prevent damage during transportation. b. Shipping: The packaged steel plates are transported to customers or further processing facilities.
